RACQ CareFlight today launches its first fundraising appeal for
2007. For the last 25 years, the medical and rescue helicopter service
has been there to assist sick and injured Queenslanders, thanks to the
support of the community.
RACQ CareFlight Chief Executive Officer
Ashley van de Velde said the Autumn Appeal would generate the funds
needed to provide service for people in need through the Easter break.
“I’m
pretty sure that most of our 12,500 patients over the last 25 years
thought they would never need our service,” Mr van de Velde said.
“We’re
there to help people in a range of situations – from those injured in
terrible car, farm or work accidents to others who need urgent
transport to bigger hospitals for specialised medical care.
“One in three of all RACQ CareFlight patients is from Toowoomba and south west Queensland.
“It’s
important to remember that our crew are only able to be there for
people thanks to the help of the community and their generous financial
support.
“Each mission costs an average of $7,000 and this is at no
cost to our patients. I urge you to donate in our Autumn Appeal, so
that like always, we will be ready to assist in any emergency
situation.”
