CAREFLIGHT MEDICAL SERVICES ADDS ANOTHER JET TO FLEET

CareFlight Medical Services (CMS) has recently increased its air ambulance capabilities by adding a Dassault Falcon 10 jet to its fleet of aircraft.

CMS currently operates air ambulance services worldwide, on a fee for service basis.  Until now, CMS Air Ambulance has used a Lear 36A.  The addition of the Falcon 10 will assist CMS to meet the increasing demand for jet medical retrieval services.

The Falcon 10 has a range of up to 1500 nautical miles, travels at 870km per hour or 470 knots and can cruise at up to 43,000 feet.

The Lear 36A has a range of 2,200 nautical miles, travels at 775km/hour or 420 knots and has a cruising altitude of up to 45,000 feet.

Both aircraft have single patient Lifeport System stretchers and seating for two medical crew. The Lear 36A has an additional seat for a single passenger; the Falcon 10 has additional seats for up to two passengers.

CareFlight Air Ambulance performs missions all around the world, transporting patients between countries, or bringing sick or injured Australians home for treatment.  On board is a specially trained medical team consisting of a senior doctor and specialist emergency nurse or intensive care paramedic.

CareFlight Medical Services is a part of the CareFlight Group, which also includes the charity RACQ CareFlight Rescue.  RACQ CareFlight Rescue has helped more than 12,500 people since first starting operations in 1981.  The community service operates throughout southern QLD and northern NSW and is on stand-by 24 hours a day.
