ANOTHER BUSY WEEKEND FOR RACQ CAREFLIGHT

Both Gold Coast and Toowoomba RACQ CareFlight crews were kept busy over the weekend, being called out on eight missions since Friday afternoon.

The Gold Coast team flew to Stanthorpe Hospital on Friday afternoon to assist a 46 year old man struck down with a mystery illness.  The man was airlifted to the Toowoomba Hospital for further tests.

Then On Saturday (March 10) the Gold Coast crew were tasked to Kingaroy to assist a premature baby, born earlier in the day, who needed specialist care available at the Toowoomba Hospital.  On delivering the newborn patient to the Toowoomba Hospital, the crew were tasked to airlift a 27 year old woman who had gone into early labour, from Toowoomba Hospital to the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital.

At the same time, RACQ CareFlight’s Toowoomba based Squirrel helicopter and crew were tasked to Killarney to land at the scene of a motorbike accident. A 17-year-old boy had sustained a broken leg while dirt bike riding. He was airlifted to the Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

Late Saturday afternoon a 25 year old Inglewood man was injured when the trail bike he was riding collided with a kangaroo.  RACQ CareFlight was tasked to transfer the patient to the Gold Coast Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

On Sunday morning, the Gold Coast crew were called to Binna Burra to assist a cardiac patient.  He was transported to the Gold Coast Hospital.  Later that day, the Gold Coast crew were called to the Tweed Heads Hospital to transfer a 6 year old girl to the Royal Children’s Hospital, after a near drowning earlier that day in a creek near Hastings Point in Northern NSW.

On Sunday afternoon, RACQ CareFlight’s Toowoomba crew were called from the Clive Berghofer CareFlight Centre to assist a 14 year old boy hurt in a dirt bike accident near the bottom of the Toowoomba Range.  The boy sustained a fractured leg and ribs in the accident and was airlifted to the Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

RACQ CareFlight is a medical and rescue helicopter service on stand-by 24 hours a day for people who are sick or injured in southern Queensland and northern New South Wales.
