COSTLY HOAX

RACQ CareFlight spent nearly three hours searching for an Ultralight that was reported to have crashed in the Mount Warning area. Just after 6pm AusSAR sent CareFlight to conduct an air search, but after using an entire tank of fuel nothing was found. It’s believed a QANTAS pilot heard the call for help over the radio and reported that the Ultralight pilot was claiming his passenger had suffered a broken leg in the crash. The incident was declared hoax.
