The RACQ CareFlight chopper is quickly clocking up the hours carrying out six missions on Sunday alone.
“It’s been a busy weekend but when the chopper is in the air it means we are helping save lives and that’s what CareFlight is all about,” said CareFlight CEO Ashley Van de Velde.
As well as five hospital transfers, the crew treated an 18 year old male after a motocross jump went horribly wrong. The Dalby rider suffered a compound fracture to his left upper leg and was air-lifted to Toowoomba Base Hospital.
CareFlight’s busy schedule isn’t going unnoticed with Philp Brodie Grains the latest to jump onboard.
“We always try to support the country people who are doing it tough. We have now chosen to help CareFlight as they are doing a great job caring for these very people trying to cope in the outlying areas,” said Managing Director Peter Brodie.
As a foundation member of ‘Club CareFlight,’ Philp Brodie Grains has secured a spot on the services’ soon to be unveiled bumper billboard located at the hangar. For just $1000 the not-for-profit organization is offering other businesses the same opportunity to join in the goodwill and advertise at the home of a reputable service.
“Not many people realise how far a thousand dollars goes for us. One grand can buy a protective suit for a crew member, enough fuel to fly from Toowoomba to one of the major Brisbane Hospitals or an entire month of medical supplies,” said Mr van de Velde.
Now that CareFlight is doing what it does best in and around Toowoomba, it’s hoping that more and more businesses will find the CareFlight cause contagious.
