RACQ CAREFLIGHT POWERS AHEAD WITH INTERGEN

CareFlight South West is gaining momentum with delivery of a new twin-engine helicopter just weeks away and Global Power Generation firm, InterGen jumping on board.

InterGen Australia has joined forces with CareFlight South West by becoming a member of the Darling Downs Dozen, a sponsorship initiative which now only requires three more corporate supporters.

InterGen Australia, a joint venture between global power firm InterGen N.V. and the leading Chinese power company China Hua Neng Group, generates approximately 20% of the electricity consumed in Queensland.

“Commercial supporters like InterGen Australia deserve enormous praise for allocating resources to a life saving organisation, they obviously truly care about the well being of the community they service,” said CareFlight CEO Ashley van de Velde.

“We are so proud to have InterGen Australia join the team, they are the ninth Darling Downs Dozen member and without these nine sponsors CareFlight South West simply wouldn’t exist,” said Mr van de Velde.

InterGen Australia has been a part of the region for nearly ten years through its Millmerran Power Plant which employs more than 200 people living in the region. Managing Director Greg Pratt stated that sponsoring RACQ CareFlight is consistent with InterGen Australia’s philosophy of supporting the communities in which it operates as well as looking out for its employees and their families.

“If our employees or their families require emergency air-medical treatment, it’s comforting to know that the CareFlight will be available.

“The Millmerran Power Station is an integral part of the western corridor and so we feel it is important that we invest in a service reaching the surrounding areas as well as Millmerran,” said Mr Pratt.

“CareFlight South West is an evolving life saving service that we hope one day will be operating in the region full-time,” said Mr Pratt.

The part-time service has already helped more than 50 people since it took off in late December. The new twin-engine Bell 230 can fly at night, in bad weather and will significantly reduce response times.

“A purpose fit twin-engine Bell 230 is on its way to the South West.  The community dug deep and supported us and now we are delivering, said Ashley van de Velde
