SCHOOLGIRL INJURES SPINE FALLING FROM A HIGH ROPES COURSE

The RACQ CareFlight helicopter was called to the Natural Arch in Springbrook just after lunch to airlift a 15 year old girl who had fallen badly injuring her spine.

“Conditions made the rescue difficult.  It was raining and we couldn’t get the helicopter to the exact spot so the CareFlight medical team was taken by 4WD ambulance to the accident scene, said CareFlight Pilot Adrian Park.

The Brisbane girl was on a school team bonding excursion we she fell 5 metres from a high ropes course landing straight on her feet and compressing her spine.

“It was a bad fall she was very lucky.  We took her to the Gold Coast Hospital for scans as she was complaining of lower and upper spinal pain,” said CareFlight Doctor Meg Fletcher.

RACQ CareFlight is there for the people of northern NSW and southern QLD 24/7 at no direct cost to the patient.
