TRAIL BIKE RIDER SURVIVES 2 DAYS IN  DITCH

 

 


RACQ CareFlight has airlifted a 38 year old man who crashed his trail bike and survived two days seriously injured in bush land north of Gatton.

“The Chuwar man hit a tree on Monday, breaking his pelvis and somehow dragged himself roughly a kilometre trying to get help, said RACQ CareFlight Crewman Garry Isakiewicz.

After spending two days in the forest with serious injuries and in intense pain, the 38 year old was eventually found by other riders on the Wednesday around 9am. The group found his bike and a trail from where he dragged himself.

QAS Paramedics from Gatton were taken to the patient by 4WD before the RACQ CareFlight helicopter was called in to airlift the man who is extremely lucky to be alive.

“When our medical team got to him he was on pain relief, but in ok spirits given his incredible ordeal,” said Garry Isakiewicz.

The patient was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he was expected to undergo surgery.  He was in a stable condition with a broken pelvis and internal injuries.
