Innovative artist Wayne Clements has wowed the enitre RACQ CareFlight team with his latest masterpiece, a canvas painting of the region’s new Bell 230 twin-engine rescue helicopter.
The acclaimed artist has donated his finished work for auction at the inaugural South West Gala Ball to be held on April 18 at Picnic Point.
“I couldn’t think of a better cause,” Mr Clements said. “RACQ CareFlight Rescue has helped in excess of 13,500 people since it started flying in 1981 and I am thrilled that my talent can help the organisation.”
“I think the chopper looks spectacular on canvas and I am confident the South West community will keep the bids coming when it goes to auction because everyone here is so proud of their community rescue helicopter,” he said.
With the Gala Ball less than 5 weeks away, excitement is building according to RACQ CareFlight Rescue’s Virginia Lambert .
“The Gala Ball is our major fundraiser this year and we are encouraged by the level of community and individual support expressed for our first event.”
“A generous donation of an 18 day ultimate African Safari prize inspired us to plan an African-themed evening featuring African cuisine with music by Damian Black and The Music Trust band,” Mrs Lambert said.
“As part of the African holiday package, the winner and travel partner will fly from Brisbane to Johannesburg staying 5 days at a luxury private gaming lodge in Northern KwaZulu-Natal followed by 5 days in Cape Town at Hastings Hall Resort and an additional 3 days at the Sun City Resort.”
“With all ticket holders eligible for the draw to win the holiday, this is one event not to be missed!” she said.
