Two people suffering serious injuries have been airlifted to Brisbane today following two separate car accidents in the state's south west.
A 78 year old lady was in a critical but stable condition after the car she was a passenger in rolled on the Toowoomba/Cecil Plains road around 11am.
“The woman suffered serious chest and head injuries in the crash, both her and the male driver had to be cut from the wreckage,” said RACQ CareFlight Pilot Andrew Riches.
“We spent about 40 minutes at the scene stabilising the female patient before airlifting her to Royal Brisbane Hospital,” said RACQ CareFlight Doctor Chris Cheeseman.
As the RACQ CareFlight chopper was leaving the hospital to return to its Toowoomba base it was tasked to another serious car accident at Allora, south of Toowoomba.
A 7 year old girl suffered lower limb, chest, head and serious facial injuries during the collision.
"While on scene she started to deteriorate so we flew her straight to Brisbane,’ said Dr Chris Cheeseman.
The young girl accompanied by her father were flown to the Mater Children’s Hospital.
