They aren’t usually known for their gift wrapping skills, but the Gold Coast Titans are putting their spare time in the off-season to good use.
Titans co-captain Luke Bailey promoted the annual RACQ CareFlight Rescue Gift Wrapping Project today at Robina Town Centre.
Although he was a little nervous to showcase his gift wrapping expertise in public, Luke says he’s happy to support RACQ CareFlight Rescue’s worthy cause.
“It's just a good opportunity to get behind CareFlight – a great service that supports the Gold Coast community,” he said.
But it wasn't all Christmas cheer and the spirit of giving – the Titans hardman competedfor top honours in the hotly contested Gift Wrap Challenge to determine the Gold Coast’s Best Gift Wrapper.
Armed with scissors, tape and wrap, Luke Bailey and team mate Bodene Thompson challenged a CareFlight Rescue pilot and crewman.
The Titans were too good on the day wrapping more presents in the allocated 90 secs.
CareFlight is still a few volunteers short to fill up all of the gift wrapping shifts in the lead-up to Christmas. By donating just a few hours of your time you can help raise valuable funds for RACQ CareFlight Rescue and also get into the spirit of giving this festive season.
The Gift Wrapping Project will take place from 27 November until 24 December.
Shifts run from 9am to 1pm, 1pm to 5pm and 5pm to 9pm. Some hours do vary on weekends and closer to Christmas.
Last year the Gift Wrapping Project raised more than $11,000 for charity. Shoppers are asked to make a gold coin donation for the gift wrapping service.
