A 17-yr-old apprentice butcher has been airlifted to Brisbane after suffering severe burns to his face and chest while cooking Christmas hams.
“The patient’s shirt caught fire when he opened the oven and he suffered full thickness burns to his chest, arms and face,” said CareFlight’s Dr Philip Lo.
RACQ CareFlight Rescue was tasked to Bundaberg Hospital around 1pm today.
“He had been put on a ventilator by local hospital staff before we arrived and remains in a serious but stable condition,” said Dr Lo.
The 17-yr-old was urgently airlifted from Bundaberg to the Royal Brisbane Hospital for specialised treatment.
