RACQ CareFlight Rescue has today marked two years of flying its blue and yellow choppers high above the residents of the South West, with a 2nd birthday bash at the Clive Berghofer CareFlight Centre at the Toowoomba airfield.
Attended by the CareFlight Air Crew, major sponsors, former patients and supporters, RACQ CareFlight Rescue made sure there was plenty of cake to go around.
RACQ CareFlight Rescue’s Leanne Angel says reaching the second birthday is a very special milestone for the service.
“RACQ CareFlight Rescue’s South West operation employs a group of specifically trained Toowoomba based professionals who work on board the helicopter on weekends and school holidays.
“CareFlight’s work is so appreciated by residents of the South West that it’s a pleasure to operate here and provide this life saving service.
“We experience a high level of community support here and we are hoping this birthday celebration will mark the second year in what will become a long history,” she said.
To make the birthday celebration extra special, RACQ CareFlight Rescue launched its Patient Rescue Club, a new initiative to formally induct former patients and their loved ones into the CareFlight family.
Nineteen year old Dennis Greensill was a guest speaker at the event. Four years ago, Dennis was paralysed from the stomach down in a motorbike accident near his home in Kingaroy. RACQ CareFlight Rescue transported Dennis to Brisbane for treatment after the accident.
RACQ CareFlight is calling on former patients like Dennis who would like to officially become part of the CareFlight family through the Patient Rescue Club.
If you have been airlifted by the blue and yellow chopper, RACQ CareFlight would love to hear from you. Simply phone 1800 630 014.
Every year RACQ CareFlight’s iconic blue and yellow choppers help more than 700 sick or injured patients. With a response time as little as six minutes, the RACQ CareFlight Rescue service is provided to the communities of South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales 24/7, at no cost to patients.
