A 19 yr old male is fighting for his life, after being thrown from a bull and trampled this afternoon at Killarney.
The bull rider was urgently airlifted to Brisbane by RACQ CareFlight Rescue, with serious chest and abdominal injuries.
The RACQ CareFlight helicopter landed at a nearby sports oval, where the medical team was required to work on the patient before he could be airlifted.
"He was in a critical condition when we arrived with a badly punctured lung and internal injuries," said CareFlight's Dr Chris Cheeseman.
CareFlight's medical team performed an emergency chest procedure at the sports field before the patient was loaded into the chopper and flown to Brisbane.
Scans performed at the Royal Brisbane Hospital have shown that the bull caused significant damage to the patient's right kidney. Serious liver damaged is also suspected, but not yet confirmed.
The 19 yr old remains in a critical but stable condition. It's believed he was riding at a rodeo ring in the Killarney Township when the incident happened.
