For over twenty years RACQ CareFlight’s adorable bear collection has been popular with supporters, but sales multiplied this week when the helicopter rescue service gave donors the option to send their purchase down south.

“Through the Red Cross we hope to send a container full of our compassionate little bears to the families left with nothing following Victoria’s devastating bushfires,” said CareFlight’s, General Manager Tracey Harris.

Through its in-house call centre RACQ CareFlight phones south east QLD residents all year helping raise vital funds for its operation, which treats more than 700 sick or injured people annually.

“On Monday we started giving people the option to help the many hundreds of people left stranded in Victoria, at the same time as supporting us,” said Tracey.

Those wanting to help can buy any CareFlight bear or piece of merchandise and opt for their purchase be sent to Victoria and distributed through the Red Cross.  

Tracey said the response has been overwhelming with telephone fundraisers experiencing a tremendous increase in support since the community was invited to ‘help CareFlight help the bushfire victims.’

CareFlight hasn’t forgotten about the flood affected areas up north, fundraisers ask those who buy if they would like their purchase to be sent north or south.  Ideally, the Gold Coast based helicopter rescue service wants to send a container of merchandise to both regions recently hit by natural disaster. 

RACQ CareFlight ran a very similar appeal following the Tsunami and was able to send approximately 400 loveable bears to south Asia.
