BUS DRIVER THROWN THROUGH WINDSCREEN

A 62 yr old male is in a serious condition and undergoing head scans in Brisbane’s PA Hospital after being flung from a school bus this morning near Amberley.

Reports suggest a truck crashed into the school bus carrying ten children just after 10am. The bus driver was thrown through the windscreen landing on the road.  The out of control bus then hit an oncoming car.

“We suspected a head injury so placed the patient on a ventilator to protect his airway before we airlifted him to Brisbane,” said CareFlight’s Doctor Schonewille.

“Paramedics had done a great job managing the patient’s pain until we arrived, he also suffered a fracture left ankle and head laceration in the accident,” said Dr Schonewille.

Once stabilised on life support, RACQ CareFlight airlifted the man to the PA Hospital where he is undergoing CT Scans.

All children on board the bus escaped injury.
