CareFlight Air Ambulance operates a world class air medical retrieval service with medically staffed and configured retrieval jets on stand-by 24/7.
CareFlight's fixed wing division carries a critical care doctor and intensive care nurse on board every flight. Air Ambulance bases are located at Gold Coast and Townsville International Airports. CareFlight's Emergency Response Centre operates on a 24/7 basis coordinating the critical planning, dispatch and flight following on all missions. Based in Auckland, the Centre also provides critical customer service and support to our valued clients in Australia, New Zealand and internationally.
CareFlight's Air Ambulance fleet comprises of two Lear 45s a Lear 36A.
The Air Ambulance fleet is permanently medically configured with state-of-the-art medical equipment, a critical factor in their role as a 24/7, rapid response flying intensive care units.
The Lear 36A carries a single patient stretcher (Lifeport System), seating for two medical crew and an extra seat for a single passenger . CareFlight Medical Services' (CMS) doctors are on board all jet flights and are specialists in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia, Intensive Care, or are advanced trainees in these specialties. All have undergone extensive training in air-medical retrieval and must maintain their qualifications and skills in accordance with CMS quality assurance policies.
CMS flight nurses are trained and integrated into the fixed wing medical environment. All medical and nursing staff are fully indemnified for domestic and international retrievals.
