Paraglider crahses at Beechmont
RACQ CareFlight (Gold Coast) has been tasked to Beechmont, in the Gold Coast Hinterland, to treat a paraglider who has lost altitude and crashed, scraping trees.
Once overhead, the rescue helicopter winched CareFlight's paramedicto the scene where the 62-yr-old male, from Tasmania, was suffering from a fractured left leg and ankle, cuts and abrasions.
Aircrewman Ryan Purchase said that due to the location and the terrain it was decided that the patient would be winched into the chopper and flown to a more accessable area.
"He had landed in steep bushland but was in a stable condition during the winch operation," he said.
The 62-yr-old was then road transported to Robina Hospital for further treatment.
